Lazareva Ekaterina (1995) is an artist, animation director, and founder of the Center for Contemporary Art “Ogon’.” She lives and works in Kamchatka and Siberia.
In her work, she combines elements of nature, ancient knowledge, and personal mythology. Her study of Ayurveda and icon painting has had a profound influence on her artistic language, where the sacred merges with the everyday.
In addition to visual art, Ekaterina directs animation and, since 2021, has been working on an unpublished project titled Amur, mon Amour!, which explores inner worlds and cycles of transformation triggered by the loss of a loved one.
She was born and raised in Irkutsk, where she also graduated from an art college with a degree in painting. She worked as an educational specialist at the V. P. Sukachev Regional Art Museum, where she developed programs for people with developmental disabilities.
With the support of a patron, she initiated the creation of the Center for Contemporary Art “Ogon’” in Irkutsk — featuring a contemporary art library, lecture hall, studios, and exhibition space.
After launching the project and establishing the institution, Ekaterina handed over leadership to the team and moved to Kamchatka to focus on her own artistic practice and to observe the isolated life on the remote peninsula.
